KCU T&F Have Strong Performance at Berea College Landon Bond Classic
Berea, KY – The Kentucky Christian Men's and Women's Track and Field programs perform very well at the Berea College Landon Bond Classic. Several qualifying scores were posted as well as personal bests registered during this two-day meet.
Following up on early strong performances, Connor Ignacio smashed his own school record in the men's javelin posting a throw of 45.10 meters to take first place! Ignacio finished 2nd in discus and took 4th in the hammer throw. First year thrower, Charlie Pawluck finished 5th in the discus and 8th in shot put, both were outdoor bests for Pawluck.
The women's side saw Lauren Hannah finish 3rd in the hammer throw, 3rd in discus, and 5th in shot put, qualifying for both hammer and discus in the upcoming Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Meet. Senior Kelly McNamara finished 7th in the women's discus throw with a season's best mark of 26.02 meters.
Moving to the track, senior Jada Higgins set school records of 4.92 and 10.07 meters, respectively in the women's long and triple jumps. Both marks surpassed the AAC qualifying marks and good for 2nd and 3rd place. In the women's 5000 meters, Samantha Reed finished in 6th place posting a time of 23:39.
For the men, junior Taee Anderson won his heat in the 100-meter dash and placed 6th overall. Anderson also competed in the 200-meter dash placing 7th and finishing 9th in the long Jump.
KCU Track and Field will be back in action on Friday April 14th at the Centre College Twilight meet.
