Lady Knights Go 3-4 on the Weekend

Raceland, KY - The Lady Knights had an impressive weekend splitting the series with CIU and sweeping Milligan in a dominant fashion. The Lady Knights move their overall record to 13-19 and their conference record to 8-14. Next up KCU travels to Alice Lloyd on Tuesday and on Wednesday the Lady Knights head to Bluefield State and then return home on Saturday for Senior Day against Union Commonwealth. That series will begin at 1:00PM at Grayson Sports Park.

Scoring Summary - CIU Game 1

• Sarah Leyba homered to center in the bottom of the first to cut the lead down to 3-1. 
• Leyba was hit by a pitch that advanced Alexis Holleman, Acie Prince, and scored Rebecca Engler to cut the lead down and make it 3-2 in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Inside the Stats - CIU Game 1

• Sarah Leyba went 1 for 1 with 1 run and 2 RBIs. She hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. 
• Rebecca Engler went 1 for 3 with 1 run.

• Kylie Mathes had a bunt for a single but advanced to third by an error. Sarah Leyba advanced to third and then scored on the same errors. 
• Hannah Ison singled scoring Kylie Mathes. 
• Madison Penrod hit a sac fly to right field to advance Engler to third and score Hannah Ison. 
• Alyssa Curtis singled to center field bringing in Engler to put the Lady Knights up 4-0 going into the top half of the 2nd inning. 
• In the bottom of the 2nd inning Alyna Ruiz singled down the left field line and advanced to second, Mathes advanced to third, and the hit scored Savannah Watson. 
• In the bottom of the 3rd inning Watson singled with a bunt scoring both Curtis and Penrod with errors by CIU. 
• In the bottom of the 4th inning Engler singled to left center advancing to second on the throw and scored both Ison and Ruiz. 
• In the bottom of the 5th inning Ison doubled to left center scoring Mathes to put the Lady Knights up 10-6.
• In the bottom of the 6th inning Katelyn Justice grounded out to shortstop but was able to score Gracie Smithson. 
• In the bottom of the 7th inning Ruiz grounded out to short but was able to score Leyba to walk it off with a 12-11 win to split the series with the Rams.

• Hannah Ison went 2 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs. 
• Rebecca Engler went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs. 
• Alyssa Curtis went 2 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI. 
• Savannah Watson went 2 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI. 
• Kylie Mathes, Alyna Ruiz, Hannah Ison, and Alyssa Curtis all had stolen bases in game 2.

• Ashton Blackburn reached on a fielder's choice that scored Sarah Leyba in the bottom of the 1st. 
• Alyna Ruiz singled to center scoring Kylie Mathes. 
• Rebecca Engler doubled to left field scoring Ruiz and Blackburn. 
• Sarah Leyba doubled to center scoring Holleman, Curtis, and Engler making it 7-1 going into the 2nd inning.

• In the bottom of the 4th inning the Lady Knights exploded: Holleman singled to first scoring Ison. Curtis reached on a fielder's choice scoring Ruiz. Penrod reached on a fielder's choice scoring Holleman. Samantha Lawyer singled to short scoring both Penrod and Curtis to put the Lady Knights up 6-2. 
• In the bottom of the 6th inning Lawyer grounded out but was able to bring in Curtis.
