Knights Chalk Up AAC Road Win
Barbourville, KY - The Knights football team was due for a break-out performance and did they provide just that, both offensively and defensively! They posted 35 points in the first half and held the Union College Bulldogs scoreless heading into intermission. Wanting to maintain the zero on the home side of the scoreboard, the defensive unit kept the clamps on the Bulldog offense and claimed their first shut-out of the 2022 season.
For the offense, Maxwell Ward was 23-37 through the air for 322 passing yards and four touchdowns. His receiving crew had four different players register a TD catch … Karon Taylor (9 rec/95 yds), Owen Hankins (4 rec/53 yds), Richmond Sims (2 rec/22 yds) and Ta’Len Rucker Dailey (2 rec/14 yds) all put their names in the scoring column.
On the ground, Joshua Traylor led the team with 90 rushing yards on eight attempts for an average of 11.3 per attempt. In all, KCU accumulated 413 total yards against the UC defense.
Defensively, Kentucky Christian was paced by Cameron Dunklin and Brian Hughes, who recorded six tackles each. Right behind them were Justin Lewis (5) and the trio of Cameron Arthur, Joseph Jamison and Sha’mar Sparks with four tackles each.
Kicker, Paul Rodriguez had his biggest night of the season with three made field goals (22, 32, 41 yds). He also averaged 37.8 yards for each of his four punts and pinned two inside of the Bulldogs 20-yd line.
The Knights travel to Georgia next week to play the Eagles of Reinhardt University. The opening kick is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
