Knights Football Loses to Morehead State
Morehead, KY - KCU football was on the road this week but they were not far from Grayson, in fact, they were only 35 miles from home. The Knights took on NCAA I Morehead State University and came up short, in spite of taking only a two score deficit into the locker room at halftime. Following the break, the Eagles rolled off 21 unanswered points to set the final score at 14-49.
Maxwell Ward got the start and was 24-41 for 334 passing yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. On the ground, Brandon Carter gained 36 yards on four carries with Jerald Daniels collecting 23 yards on five. Vincent Taylor had a huge receiving night as he hauled in four passes for 123 yards and a TD, with only four receptions his 30.8 yds/rec led everyone in the game.
On the defensive side of the ball, Desmond Dailey had the big play of the game as he snagged a Pick-6 in the 2nd quarter from 62 yards out. Ellis Reed led KCU with 13 total tackles, eight of those being solo tackles. Cameron Dunklin and Shedrick Smith we credited with 5 & 4 tackles, respectively.
Kicker, Paul Rodriguez was successful on both extra point attempts but had his only field goal attempt blocked. Connor Ignacio averaged 33.5 yds/punt on his four punts.
The Knights host the Bluefield College Rams next Saturday for the Knights annual Homecoming Game. Game time has been set for 3:30 PM.
