Knights Lose to UPike
Pikeville, KY - The Kentucky Christian football team traveled to Pikeville, KY to take on the Bears of the University of Pikeville in a non-conference matchup. When the final horn had sounded, the home-standing Bears had protected their turf and turned away the KCU bid to steal a hard-to-come-by road win. UPike won the game 33-54.
For the Knights, Maxwell Ward started under center and threw for 147 yards on 21-43 attempts with four touchdowns and two picks. Davonte Williams (39) and Joshua Traylor (22) combined for 61 rushing yards during the game with Williams hauling in a touchdown pass.
In addition to Williams, Jerald Daniels, Owen Hankins, and Austin Mullins all added a touchdown catch. Daniels and Richard Sims led KCU in receiving. Knights’ kicker, Paul Rodriguez had a 30-yd field goal to go with four successful extra points.
The Knights are on the road again next week as they play Morehead State University. The opening kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
