Grayson, KY - It came down to the wire on Monday against Bluefield. The Lady Knights grabbed the victory in game 1 in walk-off fashion, 5-4 over Bluefield. KCU was down 4-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning when Hannah Ison homered to center field, scoring three runs to secure the win. The Lady Knights captured the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning after Kaytlin Leyvas lined out, and Jaryn Holtsclaw singled, each scoring one run.
Ashton Blackburn earned the win for the Lady Knights. The starter gave up ten hits and four runs (three earned) over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Victoria Breckler and Kaytlin Leyvas each collected two hits for the Lady Knights. Hannah Ison led the Lady Knights with 3 runs batted in. Ison went 1 for 4 on the day.
Game 2:
Jaryn Holtsclaw drove in four runs on two hits to lead KCU past Bluefield 13-5 on game 2. Holtsclaw hit a home run to center field in the second inning scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning scoring two. KCU rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the second. The Lady Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the second on a home run by Holtsclaw on a 0-2 count. KCU tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Leyvas and a double by Holtsclaw.
In the bottom of the fourth inning KCU broke the tie when Acie Prince singled scoring two runs, then a walk by Hannah Ison followed to extend the lead to 8-5. The Lady Knights scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kylie Mathes singled, scoring two runs, Prince singled, scoring one run, and Ison singled scoring two runs.
Kayla Bilbey earned the win for KCU. The right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and five runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking one. The Lady Knights collected 15 hits in the game. Prince and Ison each collected three hits. Emma Fromm and Leyvas each collected multiple hits.
