Knights Win Thriller Against Brescia
KCU got out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and held on for a 7-5 victory over Bresica on Friday. Bresica closed the gap by scoring on a single, a walk, a sacrifice fly, and a solo home run.
Bresica got on the board in the first inning after Miller hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
KCU flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Aiden Bevan that drove in two.
Bresica scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Kortz.
Elijah Spurlock earned the win for KCU. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Ernspiker took the loss for Bresica. The starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering six runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking one. Austin Thompson collected the save.
The Knights tallied 10 hits in the game. Yan Rivera, Cole Thomason, and Cody Holub each collected two hits for KCU. Holub and Bevan each drove in two runs for KCU.
