Knights Split with TIU
Game 1
Even though Knights gave up three runs in the fourth inning, they still defeated Trinity International 7-3 on Wednesday. Soria, Murphy, and Popovich all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Knights opened up scoring in the first inning, when Evan Juniper singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. KCU then put up three runs in the third inning with the offensive firepower led by Juniper, Cameron Marushi, and Cristian Garcia, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Adam Cooper took the win for Kentucky Christian. The righty went three and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three. Zach Pope and Cole Riley entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Amendt took the loss for Trinity International. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out four.
Juniper led Knights with two hits in three at bats.
Game 2
The Knights watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-4 loss to Trinity International on Wednesday. As Trinity International took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Trinity International got on the board in the first inning with Murphy's sac fly scoring one run for Trinity International.
Zelko was the winning pitcher for Trinity International. He went seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two. Trinity International collected eight hits. Torres and Cisneros each racked up multiple hits for Trinity International. Torres led Trinity International with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.
The pitcher, Jacob Wiersma took the loss for KCU. Wiersma went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three. Alex Rivera started the game for the Knights.
Cody Holub led Knights with two hits in three at bats.
