Knights Win ALC Christian Tournament Opener
Kodak, TN – The Knights baseball team is participating in the Alice Lloyd College Christian Tournament being held in Kodak, TN. Kentucky Christian opened with the host and put forward an outstanding effort as they claimed the game, 12-2 in 7 innings.
KCU really liked the even-numbered innings as they scored all 12 runs in the 2nd (3), 4th (5), and 6th (4) on their way to the win. The offense produced 13 hits, including three extra-base hits and three walks. Evan juniper and Cole Thomason went long and Aiden Bevan added a double to account for the extra-base hits. Both home runs were of the three-run variety but Thomason’s had the additional distinction of being an inside-the-park round-tripper.
- Five different Knights had two hits each during the game with Thomason leading the way offensively. Along with the hits, he scored two runs, drove in four, and was credited with a stolen base.
- Juniper had the very same stat line as Thomason except it took him an additional at-bat and his home run well over the right-field fence.
- The next members of the two-hit club, Bevan had a walk to go with his single and double. Followed by Justin Legg’s and his two runs scored. Finally, Zac Lyons came off the bench to score a run and drive one in as well.
- Dylan Nowlin got the win, going six full innings (23 batters faced), allowing just two earned runs while striking out five and walking two. Finishing up the work from the mound, Estevan Baca posted two innings and surrendered just one hit.
